Ways to improve your 3D Modeling Skills
Updated on 2018-10-14
The unfolding of 3D software has revolutionized the way in which architecture is practiced throughout the world. 3-D models not only help in communicating a design better but also to analyze the depiction and further improvements. 3D modeling changed the way for designers to represent diagrams, building plans and drafts and also had a notable effect on presentations of architectural designs. Analysis of structural stability, material visualization, environmental impact and even design approach and possibilities can be done using that brainy software. Being good at using that 3-D software is essential for every designer nowadays so as to pave the way to a self-sufficient design. Here are some ways for designers to develop and improve their 3-D modeling skills:
1. ANATOMY BREAKS BARRIERS
To master a 3D software learn the basic structures of the software as they are the important tools for creating forms and building healthy designs. As you frame the skeletal system of the design you can automatically learn to fill the blank spaces. Therefore basics are a must be it in the form of commands, visualization, perspectives or setting the dimensions right. Setting materials and imposing textures form the second part after the basic framework is done.

2. MASTER ONE MASTER ALL
Even though the field of 3D modeling is vast but one should choose to focus on the singular. The easy way is that if you master one software your tendency of learning any software would be faster. The basic principle that governs the designer's learning of 3D -Modeling is his approach towards a single software which later makes it easy for him to acquire the complexity of the others. Hence, rather than investing too much energy on mastering all, focus on one and you will start improving on others.

3. SHORTCUTS- KEYS TO SUCCESS
Keyboard shortcuts make the software quicker and easier to use. Learn and remember as many commands for the smooth workability of the software and a lesser hectic task. If a designer keeps using the icons on the screen to execute commands it would become a frantic task. To begin with, a user can start practicing on default shortcuts that are present in every software and once he sets his hand over it, customization of shortcuts can be done. It is beneficial for workflow and makes work much easier.

4. USABILITY CREATES DISCOVERIES
No matter since how long you have been using a software, take time to go through and study its basic functionality and tabs. This makes you bound to discover something new. Try checking and seeing various implications and impacts it has on your model. Make sure you make a copy of your model you were working on while trying new discoveries.

5. INNOVATE AND LEARN
Copying an idea to create a basic framework in 3D models is the best way to innovate as making combinations and eliminations to this method only can pinch an idea that works elsewhere and can be applied to your model. This brings out innovations and simpler methods of creating an object or model in much more number of ways.

6. PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT
Along with keeping in mind the above points, you should practice a lot. The more you practice the better you will become at modeling. If it is hard to innovate, then go online and learn ways that people are already practicing. Practice surely sets one's hand on the software and makes work much easier.
