Importance Of Professional Experience For An Architect!!

From the bits of the general discussion we have from the people one can quote a famous sentence that if a doctor does a mistake a single life is lost but if an architect makes a mistake many lives are in danger. No doubt that a recent ruling by the supreme court of India, barring the practice of architecture by anyone else but a licensed architect gives a strong stance that how much credibility lies on the shoulder of an architect. Neglecting the debate on what this ruling has to offer unarguably we can conclude that a person in the profession of architecture has to have the field experience. Let us decode how and why.
CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
An architect is directly responsible for what he or she builds. A direct involvement with the construction and ultimately responsible for the lives of the people. Such a huge responsibility can be dealt with the confidence only when one has the experience to do so. Even the non-licensed professionals could participate in the construction industry purely based on the merit that they have been in the industry for quite some time and the experience has taken them places.

JOB PROFILE
Have you ever wondered that the architectural firms always demand for a person who has some years of experience rather that asking if he or she has an M.Arch Degree etc. The main reason being the experience in the profession teaches a lot rather than what we could possibly be studying in the academics. Thus it should not come as a surprise if a person has a much better understanding of buildings but does not have a degree or vice versa all because of the professional experience.

APPRENCTICESHIP
Popular in many professional courses professional training or internship is a compulsory part of achieving the degree on fields like architecture. This because of the importance of the professional experience. Even in the academics architecture students are taught subjects like professional practice & Office management so that the students are used and get the nuances of the related things. Whether it’s the seminars by eminent architects or jury by a professional the ultimate aim of the education system is to instill the sense of professionalism while grooming them in the academics.

EXECUTION & IMAGINATION
An architect must possess the knowledge and technical know-how of the profession so that he can incorporate that into the design and execute his work. Most graduates out of colleges face this dynamic challenge as to why their designs are not welcomed by the principal architects is because they lack the wisdom that comes with the professional experience of the job. What we can imagine must come from what we can execute. Quite a mutual process.

TEAM LEADER
A building cannot be built by the architect alone. It is collaborative effort of the client, the architect, the contractor and the many other related people like the labor , the engineer etc. While hosting the activities of all it is the sole responsibility of the architect to make sure that all work cohesively as a team, but for that the architect must possess the experience so that he can command the other forces with solidarity.
