Letting the world into their homes via Architectural Digest, Gauri and Shahrukh Khan presented an untold tale that their home has to tell. Mannat Annex Building, designed by Faquih & Associates Architects India, is a stunning example of royalty.
Originally referred to as Villa Vienna, Mannat reflects the true essence of Greek and Roman Architecture in its exterior facade. Long and masculine Doric columns, pristine white plaster work, the classic pediment and rustication on the lower levels embellished with arched niches, everything adds up to speak a language of superiority.
Having done the interiors herself, Gauri Khan invested four long years to achieve the perfect mood and look to adorn her home with. Travelling to parts of the world and gathering pieces of heaven from every nook and corner, Gauri Khan really turned the face of Mannat around. Bustling into outdoor green spaces with intricate details, Mannat is one house that makes us look like the green eyed monster.
Stepping into the house through a high plinth gives us the feels of entering a sacred monument and the interiors take our break away completely with its museum like ambience. “It took years of sourcing, travelling and editing to get to the point where everything looked just right,” said Gauri Khan.
Rustic walls sitting in the corners of a rather artistic living room complimented by a bold and earthy colour scheme is a masterpiece. Every inch of this space has been thought of and well executed and no such corner looks like an odd piece in the puzzle. The skylight adds that glory effect to the living room making it look nothing less than a picturesque setting. The false ceiling, layed in a grid-iron pattern and fitted with lights is the ideal striking factor.
Intricately decorated walls add a layer of opulence to this place. Finished with frames, this is simplicity at its best. We can also see a Gothic revival in the artworks and figurines that makes us awestruck.
Moving away from the living room and towards the dining space, the mood changes from an earthy outlook to a modern black and red combination. This is like witnessing a fairytale come to life! The dining table is garnished with a vase of flowers that add a subtle array of colour to the classic solid walls, candles hanging down the ceiling and palatial pictures having within the enclosure, eating in this place is nothing less than a gourmet meal at a 5 star restaurant.
Giving every woman serious wardrobe goals, Gauri’s dressing room adds the cherry on top of the cake. Showcasing her timeless collection of designer pieces and reflecting upon her personality, the vintage looking mirror adds a sense of celebration to the character of this place.
Opposed to what the world thinks, Mannat, with its five bedrooms, many living rooms, gymnasium and library, is a complete family zone full of warmth and love. Smaller bedrooms and larger semi public stretches is what marks the identity of Mannat. “When you live in a house, however big or small, you don’t think of it in terms of being famous or anything like that. You just think of it as home. I want my children to make their lives here, and I don’t intend to change it for a long time.”
That’s one philosophy to live by! Unparalleled and unmatchable, The Badshaah of Bollywood with his reigning queen are winning at life!
