Introduction

In every sphere of business, there is innovation happening today. Everywhere there is an attempt to provide something new to the customer. An attempt to provide something that is novel, innovative, out-of-the-ordinary, surprising, funky. These adjectives are not enough to describe the kinds of innovations that are happening in various spheres. The interior design industry is not one to be left behind. With increasing customer demand, new products are being produced and marketed. In the laminate space too, new types of laminates are being introduced.  These promise to make the home a stylishly designed, friendly, creative space where one would love to spend their time.

New Laminates

The interior design industry is innovating rapidly and the laminate industry is not far behind. Due to the involvement of foreign architects in the interior design process, new products are coming to the fore. In addition, the customer is also becoming ever demanding. With the innovations in home décor products, there has also been a simultaneous innovation in the types and styles of laminates. Since the last couple of years, new concepts have emerged which have offered the customer an experience of better living.  With the emphasis being on looks and style, providing laminates in innovative styles and designs has become necessary. Although colors like red with a fire glaze, lime green, and rusty orange, which were a rage during the 50s, are still in use, they will soon be replaced by contemporary colors, designs, and styles. This is thanks to the demand expressed by foreign architects and upwardly mobile, well-travelled customers.

The introduction of the anti-bacterial range of laminates has come in answer to the customer’s need for hygienic enclosures to live in. These are used in the bedrooms and hospitals, In other words, they are used in spaces, which require cleanliness. Then there arose a need for laminates to be durable. Therefore, we saw the introduction of high-pressure laminates, which are available in many colors and designs. These laminates offer features like low maintenance cost, excellent wearing surface, and extra durability. Therefore, they have become the mainstay of rooms, which house heavy furniture. Slowly and gradually, customers started expressing a wish to design their own flooring laminates.  They wanted their life-size pictures to be incorporated in the laminate designs. There was a great demand for such products from well-to-do customers. This brought in customized or made-to-order laminates. The next trend that is now likely to come is customizing the laminates with the kid’s favorite cartoon characters. Such products are provided in the kid’s room, the library, or their study. The whole intention is to make the room livelier and more creative.

There are bound to be more innovations in future as the customer demands are ever evolving and we will see them in the times to come.
